HOW TO TRAVEL TO AVEIRO
Flying to Portugal
The closest airport is Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport in Oporto, located some 85 kms to the north of Aveiro.
However, you can also travel to Humberto Delgado International Airport in Lisbon, located 250 kms to the south of Aveiro.
From Oporto to Aveiro
If you’re flying to Oporto, the best way to travel to Aveiro is by train (approximately 1-hour trip). The best Oporto train station for this trip is Porto-Campanhã. The journey from the Oporto airport to the train station Porto-
Campanhã can be done by taxi/Uber or subway (less expensive, about 40 minutes). You can catch the subway just outside the airport and head to Porto-Campanhã, where you will find regular trains to Aveiro. The less expensive option is to catch the urban (U) train. The fastest option (but more expensive) is to take the Alfa Pendular (AP) train.

From Lisbon to Aveiro
If you’re flying to Lisbon, the best way to travel to Aveiro is also by train (approximately 2h30m trip). The best Lisbon train station for this trip is Lisboa-Oriente. The journey from the Lisbon airport to the Lisboa-Oriente train station can be done by bus, taxi/Uber or subway (less expensive, about 15 minutes). You can catch the subway just outside the airport and head to Lisboa-Oriente, where you will find regular trains to Aveiro. The less expensive option is to catch the Intercidades (IC) train. The fastest option (but more expensive) is to take the Alfa Pendular (AP) train.
From the Aveiro train station to the University of Aveiro
The Aveiro train station is at a 2 km distance from the Department of Education and Psychology of the University of Aveiro. You can take this journey by feet (approximately 30 minutes), bus, taxi, Uber or bus. You will want to exit the train station by its front entrance, where you will a beautiful tiles mural.
